Emerging Sydney artist, Cliff Sandler, works with oil paint and graphite on birch wood to intricate, detailed pieces. His monochromatic palette and use of wood enable him to produce etched or burnt characteristics, which are further enhanced by the wood grain. Wood plays a central role in Cliff’s current work, lending a unique natural quality to each piece. As light hits the wood it ignites seams within the grain, producing luminosity where the painting appears alive. He has studied with contemporary artist Cyndi Rogoff and exhibited at Art Fairs in Sydney and Melbourne.
